New coronary Stent Prices Set
The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) has instructed importers and hospitals to implement newly revised prices for coronary stents used in cardiac treatment. The updated price list sets new maximum retail prices (MRPs) for various categories of imported heart stents.
Under the revised pricing structure, the maximum retail price of Alex Plus, Alex, and Abaris stents has been fixed at Tk 57,000. Coroflex ISAR NEO has been priced at Tk 52,000, while Coroflex ISAR and Amazonia SIR are set at Tk 50,000.
The price of Magma stents has been fixed at Tk 30,000, Suna Stent Delivery System at Tk 14,000, CRE 8 stents at Tk 50,000, and Avant-Garde stents at Tk 15,000.
Direct-Stent Sirolimus-Eluting Coronary Stents, Cellosia Covered Stents, and Cilin Covered Stents have each been priced at Tk 62,000. The Orsiro stent will retail at Tk 60,000, while the Orsiro Mission has been priced at Tk 65,000.
Other revised prices include Pro-Kinetic Energy at Tk 20,000, Itrix Rapamycin at Tk 36,000, Arthos Pico at Tk 15,000, Ultimaster Tansei at Tk 65,000, Abluminus DES Plus at Tk 60,000, Xlimus at Tk 55,000, and Explosion stents at Tk 45,000.
The information was disclosed in a notice signed by DGDA Director General Mohammad Alamgir Hossain on Tuesday.
According to the notice, the revised prices were determined based on recommendations from an expert advisory committee formed by the Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The committee considered applicable taxes, VAT, service charges, commissions, and reasonable profit margins for importers before finalizing the maximum retail prices.
The DGDA said all concerned importing companies have already been notified to implement the revised pricing structure.
The notice further stated that the final approval followed a review of price reconsideration requests submitted by several companies during the advisory committee’s seventh meeting held on May 13.
The DGDA also issued a number of directives for hospitals providing cardiac care services.
Hospitals have been instructed to display the updated stent price list prominently on notice boards, ensure that all purchases and sales comply with the approved maximum retail prices, and refrain from including stent costs within bundled treatment packages.
In addition, hospitals must provide separate cash memos clearly mentioning the stent’s name, maximum retail price, and manufacturer. They have also been directed to hand over the packaging of the implanted stent to patients after the procedure.
The regulator said all cardiac treatment facilities must take necessary measures to ensure strict compliance with the approved price list and related directives.
