Online Sale of Eid Train Tickets to Begin on May 13
Bangladesh Railway is set to begin selling advance train tickets online from May 13 to ensure smooth journeys for people traveling home for the holy Eid-ul-Azha. The Ministry of Railways has announced that 100% of the tickets will be sold online.
This decision was made at a preparatory meeting for the Eid journey, chaired by Md. Fahimul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, at Rail Bhaban.
According to the decision, tickets for journeys on May 23 will be sold on May 13. Tickets for journeys on May 24, 25, 26, and 27 will be sold on subsequent days, respectively.
On the other hand, tickets for return journeys will go on sale from May 21. Tickets for journeys on May 31 will be sold that day. Tickets for June 1 to 4 will be sold until May 25 in phases. Furthermore, the dates for selling tickets for May 28 to 30 will be determined based on the sighting of the Eid moon.
Five pairs of special trains and three cattle special trains have been planned for Eid. The special trains will run on various routes, including Chattogram-Chandpur, Dhaka-Dewanganj, and Joydebpur-Parbatipur.
Railway authorities have stated that three cattle special trains will operate from Dewanganj and Islampur to Dhaka for the transportation of sacrificial animals.
Special measures have been taken to prevent ticket black marketing during the Eid journey, stop passengers from traveling on train roofs, and enhance security at stations. Additional police, RAB (Rapid Action Battalion), and Railway security forces will be deployed at Dhaka and Airport railway stations.
In addition, the weekly holidays for intercity trains have been canceled from May 23 until the day before Eid. A decision has also been made to add extra coaches to various intercity trains to handle passenger pressure.
