The two-day ‘Job Fair 2026’ organized by Southeast University concluded with enthusiastic participation from students and corporate organizations. A total of 55 local and international companies from sectors including banking, financial services, telecommunications, information technology, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, and healthcare took part in the event.
Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony, Jonayed Abdur Rahim Saki said universities play a vital role in protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty. He noted that universities are not only centers of higher education but also key institutions for building unity and awareness through the dissemination of knowledge.
He further stated that national development is not the responsibility of the government alone, and all institutions in society must work together. Referring to alleged corruption and capital flight during previous administrations, he claimed that large-scale money laundering had negatively affected investment, employment, and economic growth in the country.
During his speech, he also remembered the participants of the July movement and specifically mentioned four “July warriors” from Southeast University.
The closing session began with an opening speech by Vice Chancellor (Acting) Dr. M. Mofazzal Hossain. The guest of honor was Dr. Anwar Hossain, member of the University Grants Commission. Special guest at the event was TM Asaduzzaman from the World Bank. The session was chaired by Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam.
Among others present were Registrar Major General (Retd.) Anwarul Islam, deans of different schools, department heads, faculty members, alumni, and students.
Throughout the two-day event, participating companies collected CVs, conducted interviews, and explored recruitment opportunities with prospective candidates. The fair also featured two seminars and several special sessions. University authorities said the initiative would help strengthen connections between students and the corporate sector while preparing graduates for future career opportunities.
