Students of Rajshahi University (RU) are set to receive a specially customized ATM card designed to support education, healthcare, and career-related needs. The card will enable payment of tuition fees to foreign universities, shopping on both domestic and international e-commerce platforms (in both Taka and Dollar), freelancing transactions, and cash withdrawals from ATM booths at home and abroad.

Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited is set to begin distributing the card at the beginning of next month by installing booths on campus, in collaboration with the university administration and RUCSU.

The matter was confirmed on Wednesday (29 April) via social media platform Facebook by RUCSU Assistant General Secretary (AGS) SM Salman Sabbir.

He stated that all types of transactions through this card will be completely free of charge. The annual fee has also been waived. In addition to on-campus distribution, students will later be able to collect the card from the bank’s Alupatti branch.

It has been learned that the card will be provided completely free of cost to RU students, and no special documentation will be required to obtain it. Students who already have bank accounts or cards will also be eligible to receive this new card. However, in such cases, the student’s existing account must be a student account.

Through this account and ATM card, students will be able to carry out various essential tasks related to higher education, including opening a student file, and will also be able to use it abroad during Hajj and Umrah.
