Expatriate Welfare Ministry Sets Up Control Room Amid Middle East Conflict

The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has established a control room to ensure the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates amid the ongoing war situation in the Middle East. According to an office order issued by the ministry on Monday, the control room will operate daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm from Tuesday until 16 March.

The order states that officials and staff assigned to the control room will perform their duties in three shifts. The facility has been set up at the Probashi Call Center, Lift-7, Probashi Kallyan Bhaban, Eskaton, Dhaka. The order further states that Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Director General of the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board, will oversee the overall management of the control room. Meanwhile, Md. Hedayetul Islam Mondol, Deputy Secretary of the Employment-1 Branch of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, will serve as the Chief Control Room Officer.

The office order also outlines that officials assigned to the control room from Tuesday will maintain communication with labour welfare wings abroad when necessary, taking into account the evolving war situation in the Middle East.
