Akij Enters Electronics with Orca Outlet Launch

One of the country’s leading industrial conglomerates, Akij Resource, has entered the consumer electronics market. Marking this expansion, the first outlet of the ‘Orca’ brand under Akij Consumer Electronics Limited was formally inaugurated on Thursday, February 5, at Kamal Ataturk Avenue in Banani, Dhaka.

Although the journey has initially begun with an outlet-based retail model featuring global brands, the group has plans to manufacture and market products in Bangladesh under the Orca brand in the future.

Speaking at the inauguration, company representatives said Orca aims to be a complete home appliance and office solution provider. The outlet offers a wide range of products, including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, televisions, washing machines, ovens, and other home appliances. Products from renowned global brands such as Samsung, LG, Hitachi, Haier, Whirlpool, Panasonic, and Philips are available at the outlet.

After inaugurating the showroom by cutting the ribbon, Mohammad Abu Tariq Zia Chowdhury, Chief Business Officer of Akij Consumer Electronics Limited, said,
“Akij Resource has long been operating successfully across multiple sectors. We have a large and trusted customer and well-wisher base. This initiative has been taken to provide them with enhanced service and quality products.”

He further added,
“Today, product availability is not the main challenge; the real challenge lies in after-sales service. This is where Orca will stand apart. We are committed to ensuring the highest level of after-sales support. If a customer raises any complaint regarding a product, it will be resolved within 24 hours.”

The event was attended by several senior executives of Akij Resource, including Cluster CEO Shahriar Ishtiaq Halim, Chief Business Development Officer Toufiq Hasan, Cluster CFO Ashfaq Hossain Chowdhury, Chief People Officer Mohammad Afsar Uddin, Chief Supply Chain Officer Khandaker Mostakim Ahmed Fahim, Deputy COO Sohanur Rahman Sohan, along with other high-ranking officials from various business units of the group.

According to the company, Akij Consumer Electronics plans to launch at least 25 outlets by 2026 across major cities such as Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Barishal, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Mymensingh. The long-term goal is to establish 100 showrooms nationwide by 2028.
