Dhaka University to Host Qualifying Round for International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad 2026
The qualifying round of the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (IAOI) 2026 is set to take place in Bangladesh. The competition will be held on October 6 at the Institute of Information Technology (IIT) of Dhaka University.
Students from grade 6 up to HSC 2025 or equivalent, as well as those enrolled up to the 4th semester of polytechnic institutions, will be eligible to participate. The Bangladesh qualifying round aims to provide young learners with the opportunity to showcase their skills on an international stage. Registration for the selection phase will open on September 26.
As one of the most transformative technologies of the 21st century, artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing healthcare, education, agriculture, and business worldwide. Organizers noted that the competition will allow students to display their creativity and technical talents, marking “a significant step toward introducing Bangladesh’s AI-driven future generation to the global arena.”
The contest will be a five-hour challenge, hosted on the Kaggle platform. Participants will tackle real-world problems in machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision. Through this, students will be able to demonstrate their analytical ability, algorithmic thinking, and practical problem-solving skills.
The event is being organized by the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN), with the goal of giving young Bangladeshi students exposure to an international-level AI competition. According to the organizers, “The competition will enable students to strengthen their problem-solving capacity, research-oriented thinking, and readiness for a technology-driven future.”
Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) has joined as the Platinum Sponsor of the Bangladesh AI Olympiad. The event is powered by Reeve Chat and supported by technology companies Brain Station 23, Intelligent Machines, and Creative IT Institute. Rokomari, Kishor Alo, and BigganChinta are partnering as collaborators.
