Citizen Services Simplified Through ‘Nagarik Seba Bangladesh’ Workshop
“Entrepreneurs Are the Driving Force Behind Implementing Citizen Services” — Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb
A day-long orientation and capacity-building workshop titled ‘Nagarik Seba Bangladesh’ was held on Friday, January 9, at the Circuit House auditorium in Cumilla, aiming to enhance the skills of grassroots entrepreneurs and make citizen services easier, more integrated, and more people-friendly.
The event was attended as chief guest by Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
In his keynote address, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb described Nagarik Seba Bangladesh as a timely and significant reform initiative of the government. He said the core objective of the programme is to simplify citizens’ access to government services, reduce long-standing hassles, and ensure integrated services under one roof. He noted that instead of delivering services in a fragmented manner, the government has brought services from different ministries under a unified framework, which will enhance both service quality and efficiency. He added that citizen service centres at the local level would serve as a credible reflection of the government’s service delivery system.
He further said that citizens’ trust, satisfaction, and overall experience would be the key indicators of the initiative’s success, stressing that the real goals of the reform can only be achieved through a sustainable, secure, and citizen-centric service system.
Highlighting the role of grassroots stakeholders, the Special Assistant said field-level entrepreneurs would play the most crucial strategic role in implementing the initiative. He described them as the driving force of citizen service centres at the local level and representatives of the government, while also emphasizing the importance of personal data protection.
Participating entrepreneurs said the workshop helped them gain a clear understanding of the Nagarik Seba Bangladesh initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to actively implementing citizen service centres in their respective areas.
The workshop was organised by the Information and Communication Technology Division, with support from the Cumilla District Administration and Aspire to Innovate (a2i). A total of 100 selected entrepreneurs from union, municipality, upazila, and district digital centres of Cumilla and Brahmanbaria districts took part in the programme.
The workshop was chaired by Cumilla Deputy Commissioner Md Reza Hasan and attended as special guests by Md Nabi Uddin, Senior System Analyst of the ICT Division, and Abdullah Al Fahim, Head of Project Management at Aspire to Innovate (a2i). The welcome address was delivered by Ali Rajib Mahmud Mithun, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT), Cumilla, while Md Salman Farsi, Assistant Commissioner, conducted the proceedings.
