Rangpur Recruitment Rush: BDJobs Hosts First Job Fair in the Region

In a significant move to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, leading online recruitment platform BDJobs organized its first-ever job fair in Rangpur. Held on Thursday, 24 July, at the Rangpur Zilla Parishad Community Centre, the event drew over 10,000 job seekers throughout the day, with more than 35,000 having registered online for the opportunity.

The fair, which ran from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., featured 75 recruiting companies, nearly half of which were based locally. Braving intense heat, thousands of hopefuls lined up at company booths to submit their CVs and learn about available roles and qualifications. Due to the overwhelming crowd, many candidates resorted to scanning QR codes on expo banners to submit their resumes digitally via the BDJobs platform.

Speaking at the event, BDJobs CEO Fahim Mashroor, alongside Head of Marketing Prokash Chowdhury, fielded questions from attendees and shared insights into the employment landscape.

Reflecting on the event’s turnout and broader implications, Mashroor said, “This is our first job fair in Rangpur. While it may end successfully, it saddens me to see how severe the unemployment crisis has become. The problem is far more acute outside Dhaka, particularly in northern Bangladesh.”

He emphasized that the government alone cannot solve the employment crisis through public sector jobs. “We must create opportunities in the private sector and foster self-employment. The government should also explore ways to send skilled youth abroad with the support of special loans,” he added.

Previously, BDJobs had held similar job fairs in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, and Sylhet. Mashroor noted that following Rangpur, additional fairs are planned for Barishal and Cumilla within the current month.
