UITS joins the 'FutureNation' program.
University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) has joined 'FutureNation', a joint initiative by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), and Grameenphone.
On Tuesday, January 6th, at a programme held in the conference room of the university in Baridhara, Dhaka, FutureNation's Training Coordination Officer Khondkar Abir Hossain Noor and Volunteer Management Associate Vivekananda Das highlighted various aspects of the initiative.
The event, organised by UITS's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Dr. Md. Abu Hasan Bhuiyan, Treasurer Professor Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Registrar Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, IQAC Director Engineer Md. Safayet Hossain, Director of Career Counseling and Placement Center Farhana Rahman Sumi, Additional Director of IQAC Shamima Akhtar, and Student Welfare Advisor Shubho Das, along with other senior officials and faculty members of the university.
It was informed at the event that the aim of this program is to accelerate the economic growth of the country by preparing young graduates for future employment through education and skill development. Already, under this initiative, 1,500 students and teachers from 75 universities across the country will get the opportunity to participate in Harvard University's online courses for one year. The courses include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, and other modern technologies. Simultaneously, it includes Human Resource Development, Business and Social English with the assistance of the British Council, Digital Skill Development, Freelancing skill development, Employability Masterclass, Frontier Technology Leadership, Entrepreneurship Development, and employment assistance programs.
