Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has taken an initiative for the third consecutive year to reduce the hassle faced by admission seekers in locating their examination halls. Ahead of the upcoming Agriculture Cluster Admission Test, BAU has introduced the ‘BAU Exam Hall Finder’ system for candidates appearing at the BAU centre.

The system was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, December 30, at 4:00 pm at the conference room of the university’s Student Affairs Division, ahead of the admission test scheduled for January 3.

Members of the development team said the BAU Exam Hall Finder is a web-based service. By searching “exam hall finder” on the Google Chrome browser, candidates can access the platform. After entering their roll numbers, examinees can view images of the main gate of their designated examination halls. In addition, GPS-based navigation provides real-time directions to reach the exam centre in the shortest possible time.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Student Affairs Adviser Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Haque, Proctor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Alim, Associate Student Affairs Adviser Professor Dr. Mohammad Saifullah, Director of the ICT Cell Professor Dr. Md. Rostom Ali, and members of the developer team.

The developer team included students from the Department of Bioinformatics under the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology—Anik Howlader (fourth year), Ishmamul Haque (third year), and Asif Zaman (second year). The modification team comprised third-year students SM Mehedi Hasan Tushar, Nasran Fardin, Lamya Islam, and Fatema Islam from the same department.

Speaking at the event, Ishmamul Haque, a member of the app development team and a third-year student, said BAU’s vast campus and the distance between faculties and institutes often make it difficult for newcomers to locate exam halls. “Most admission candidates and their guardians are unfamiliar with the campus. To ensure they do not face unnecessary trouble, we started working on the Exam Hall Finder,” he said.

Professor Dr. Md. Rostom Ali noted that the app now includes hall identification through images and GPS navigation for the upcoming Agriculture Cluster Admission Test. He added that QR-code banners will be installed at key campus intersections, while volunteers and ICT Cell help desks will remain available for direct assistance.

He further said the ICT Cell would provide round-the-clock support for issues such as forgotten admit cards or other technical problems. There are also plans to extend this digital service to other universities under the agriculture cluster in the future.

In addition, a central assistance centre will be set up at Amtala this year under the initiative of the university administration, where admission seekers will receive guidance on accommodation and other necessary support.

Student Affairs Adviser Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Haque praised the students’ innovation, saying the BAU Exam Hall Finder is a model digital solution for campuses across the country. He expressed hope that the initiative would significantly ease the anxiety of admission candidates by eliminating the confusion of locating exam halls on the large BAU campus.
