Meta has rolled out new design updates and features to keep pace with modern usability trends, aiming to make Facebook simpler, cleaner, and more visually appealing—much of it inspired by Instagram. The update details were revealed in a report by TechCrunch.

Under the new changes, multiple photos posted together will now appear in a grid layout on the feed. Facebook is also adding the ability to “like” photos with a double-tap—one of Instagram’s signature interactions. Significant updates have also been made to creating feeds and Stories, with popular tools such as adding music and tagging friends now becoming easier to access.

Search results are getting a more immersive grid view, displaying all types of content together. Meta has also begun testing a feature that allows users to view full-screen photos and videos and then return seamlessly to their previous position in the feed.

Users will also get improved ways to give feedback about irrelevant content appearing in their feed. Similar to Instagram and Threads, Meta says Facebook will offer more customization options to help users shape their feed according to personal preferences.

In addition, Facebook is introducing a refreshed menu design, a simplified commenting experience, and several other visual improvements. Meta notes that this is only the beginning of its effort to make Facebook less cluttered and more user-friendly, with more updates planned for next year.
