Bangladesh’s Brilliant Bots Bound for IRO at Brisbane
Bangladesh will participate in the 27th International Robot Olympiad (IRO), scheduled to take place from December 17 to 21 on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Organized by the Bangladesh Open Source Network, the national selection process for this year began with an online qualifying round on August 29–30, followed by the national finals of IRO Bangladesh Open 2025 on September 12–13 at the University of Asia Pacific in Dhaka.
Through the national finals, winners in the Creative Movie, Creative, and Physical Computing categories were evaluated on various performance criteria during an international team selection camp, which ultimately determined the students representing Bangladesh at the International Robot Olympiad.

The team will be accompanied by Mishal Islam, coach of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad, with M. Tanzim Al Islam Dibas serving as assistant coach. A A Munir Hasan, president of Bangladesh Open Source Network, will lead the delegation as team leader.
Additionally, Professor Dr. Lafifa Jamal of Dhaka University’s Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department will participate in the International Robot Olympiad as a member of the central committee.
Bangladesh has been participating in this competition since 2018. Over the past seven years, the national team has won 14 gold medals and a total of 73 medals at the International Robot Olympiad.
The Bangladesh team’s participation is sponsored by the Information and Communication Technology Division and the Department of Information and Communication Technology, under the Government of Bangladesh.
