The modern non-stop Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system will be launched in pilot form on the Padma Bridge at noon on September 25, enabling vehicles to cross the bridge without stopping while tolls are automatically deducted.

On September 24, Wednesday, the Bangladesh Bridge Authority announced that the system is being introduced under the special directive of Road Transport and Bridges Advisor Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan.

To use the ETC service, interested vehicle owners must first register and recharge through the “D-Toll” option in Trust Bank Limited’s Tap app. Afterwards, they need to complete a one-time RFID tag check and registration at the Padma Bridge RFID booth.

Once registered, drivers can use the ETC lane at a minimum speed of 30 km/h, during which the toll will be automatically deducted from their account.

It has further been revealed that in the future, additional financial apps will also be integrated into the system alongside Tap. The a2i program of the ICT Division is currently working to connect various financial applications with the ETC service.
