On the night of September 19, eighteen teams from Bangladesh will depart for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to showcase thirty-two rovers and robots developed by the country’s young innovators. Representing Bangladesh at the World Invention Competition and Exhibition (WICE), organized by the Youth Scientists Association of Indonesia at the SEGi University campus, the delegation of forty young “Robotians” will carry the national flag under the banner of the science and technology-based organization Dreams of Bangladesh.

The week-long competition, running until September 25, will see the young innovators accompanied by ten mentors and twenty guardians. Participants are funding their own travel, determined to compete intellectually with representatives from twenty-six other countries.

On Wednesday, September 17, at a press conference held at the Shafiqul Kabir Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, Mahadir Islam, CEO of Dreams of Bangladesh, expressed this resolve. The event was coordinated by Mehedi Hasan Saurav and attended by senior software engineer Tamim Hossain, head of marketing Asfin Ahan, executive Safin Ahmed, and the participants’ guardians.

The press conference highlighted several of the young innovators’ creations, including underwater robots, Mars rovers, Earth rovers, rescue drones, rescue rovers, moon rovers, fire-fighter robots, traffic-jam management robots, waste-cleaner rovers, flood rescue robots, and portable medical care rovers. Most are designed to assist humans in challenging environments and are primarily four-wheeled rovers, with some fully robotic models.

Mahadir Islam said, “Dreams of Bangladesh is committed to creating global platforms for talented, motivated, and enthusiastic students. The fifth industrial revolution is driven by technology, especially robotics and automation. Our aim is to transform prototype-level innovations into industrial solutions that contribute to national development. From over a thousand innovations across the country, we have selected eighteen initiatives for this competition. For the first time in history, such a large Bangladeshi delegation is participating at WISE. Even though we are young, through our innovative projects, we aim to illuminate Bangladesh’s name on the world stage.”

Since its inception in 2021, Dreams of Bangladesh has been identifying talented students from remote areas and providing them opportunities to present their work internationally. Its young scientists have already earned multiple national and international awards, including three gold medals.
