Biman Bangladesh Flight Grounded in Dubai Due to Mechanical Fault
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight experienced a mechanical fault at Dubai International Airport, causing the postponement of its journey and necessitating hotel accommodation for stranded passengers. Consequently, 178 travelers were unable to reach Dhaka at the scheduled time.
On Wednesday, September 17, Biman Bangladesh Airlines General Manager (Public Relations) Bosra Islam confirmed the incident to the media.
He explained, “During a routine inspection before the flight on Tuesday night (September 16), a mechanical fault was detected in the aircraft. To ensure passenger safety, the aircraft was grounded. Stranded passengers were moved to a hotel, and meal arrangements were provided for them.”
According to the airline’s engineering department, the Boeing 787-8 flight BG-248 was scheduled to depart from Dubai at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, en route to Sylhet and then Dhaka. However, the mechanical issue prevented the flight from taking off as planned.
“The necessary spare parts are expected to arrive in Dubai on a flight from Dhaka Wednesday night. Once the fault is rectified, the aircraft is expected to depart for Sylhet and then Dhaka from Dubai the same night,” the engineering department stated.
