BSIA Bids for Broad-Based Semiconductor Roadshow
The Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) has proposed organizing roadshows in leading semiconductor countries, including Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, and the United States.
A delegation led by BSIA President M. A. Jabbar submitted the proposal, along with five additional demands, to the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun. The meeting was held on Tuesday, September 16, at BIDA’s Agargaon office, with BSIA directors Kamrul Ahsan Dewanji and Ashiqur Rahman Tanim present. BIDA’s Business Development Head Nahiyan Rahman Rochi and Associate Relations Manager Johari Bin Akhtar also attended.
During the bilateral meeting, BSIA’s written proposal urged policy support and incentives to encourage expatriate Bangladeshis to invest in the semiconductor sector, rapid implementation of the Semiconductor Taskforce recommendations, cash incentives for semiconductor service exports, enactment of a national semiconductor law, and recognition of BSIA as an industry partner by BIDA.
According to sources, the Executive Chairman emphasized involving relevant ministries and departments to expedite the implementation of the taskforce’s action items. He also assured the BSIA leadership of BIDA’s full support.
