The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has announced that it will provide training to taxpayers on filing tax returns online. The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the NBR on Tuesday, September 9.

According to the release, a dedicated website link has been provided for interested participants to apply for the training. By accessing the link, taxpayers must enter their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), name, address, mobile number, email, and preferred date for training before submitting the form. Following submission, the NBR will inform them of the training date via email.

This year, all taxpayers will be required to file their returns online. Bangladesh currently has around 11.2 million registered TIN holders. Those with taxable income are obligated to submit returns.

Since last year, online filing has been made mandatory for individual taxpayers within specific jurisdictions, bank employees nationwide, and officials of several multinational companies. More than 1.7 million taxpayers filed returns online in the previous year.

The NBR emphasized that taxpayers will be able to prepare and file returns from home, as well as make tax payments online. Payments can be made through internet banking, debit and credit cards, and mobile banking. In addition, taxpayers will be able to download and print copies of submitted returns, acknowledgment receipts, income tax certificates, and Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs) through the same online system.
