Google Grows Global with New AI Search Languages
Google has expanded the language support of its AI-powered search mode beyond English for the first time, adding Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese, according to Engadget.
After initially launching AI mode in search in the United States in May, followed by the United Kingdom and India, Google has moved quickly to broaden access. In July, it integrated the Gemini 2.5 Pro model and Deep Search, and the feature is now available in more than 180 countries.
Hema Budaraju, Vice President of Search Product Management at Google, wrote in a blog post, “It’s not just about translation, but about nuanced understanding of local information. Google’s customized Gemini 2.5 makes AI search more locally relevant and useful.”
While Google maintains that website traffic has remained stable since the rollout of AI Overviews, the company admitted in a court filing that the open web is rapidly declining.
