Fake Audio of Home Affairs Adviser Fabrication Fuels Fury

Following the attack on Ganadhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur by law enforcement personnel, a so-called “fake audio” allegedly in the name of Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has been circulating across Facebook and other social media platforms. The Ministry of Home Affairs has strongly denied its authenticity, stating that the voice does not belong to the Home Affairs Adviser but is AI-generated or artificially created by other means.

In a protest statement signed by Director (Public Relations) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Faisal Hasan, on Saturday, August 30, it was mentioned that from various fake Facebook accounts, including that of Ismail Chowdhury Samrat, a 25-second fabricated audio recording was spread. In it, the Home Affairs Adviser was allegedly heard giving instructions to an unidentified police officer concerning VP Nur.

The Ministry of Home Affairs asserted that “producing and spreading such false audio recordings in the name of the Home Affairs Adviser on social media is disseminating lies and misleading information among the general public – which is contrary to public order and law. This is spreading rumors in society and depriving people of the actual truth.”

The statement further expressed a stern protest, declaring that those responsible for creating such false and misleading audio content will be identified and brought under strict legal measures. “Everyone is hereby cautioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs against fabricating and spreading such fake audio recordings or false content on social media. Otherwise, action will be taken against them in accordance with the law.”

It may be noted that on the evening of Friday, August 29, a clash broke out between leaders and activists of the Jatiya Party and Ganadhikar Parishad. Subsequently, Nurul Haque Nur was seriously injured in an alleged joint force attack in the Bijoynagar area of the capital.
