Teletalk Awards 700MHz 4G Network Expansion Contract To ZTE

Advancing the modernization of state-led cellular infrastructure, state-owned mobile network operator Teletalk Bangladesh Limited has officially awarded the Notification of Award (NOA) to global telecommunications equipment vendor ZTE for rolling out 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) services on the 700MHz frequency band. The formal issuance marks the operational execution phase of the national project titled "Procurement of 4G on 700MHz."

The contract document was formally exchanged on Monday, 26 October 2026, at the secretariat office of the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology.

In the presence of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam, Teletalk Managing Director Nurul Mabud Chowdhury handed over the NOA to Mao Junyong, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ZTE Bangladesh.

Deploying 4G capabilities across the 700MHz low-band spectrum provides superior wave propagation characteristics, enabling high indoor signal penetration and deep geographical coverage across extensive territorial distances. The deployment is targeted at reducing regional digital divides by delivering high-speed mobile internet and voice reliability to rural, remote, and historically underserved populations across the country.

The network expansion forms a central component of Teletalk’s broader capital expenditure strategy to overhaul state-managed digital communication backbones and ensure equitable access to mobile broadband for citizens nationwide.

The handover ceremony was attended by ZTE Chief Marketing Officer Jiang Xiao, Account Director Mohammad Zahed Ali, Project Director Zhu Xiubin, alongside senior technical leads and administrative officials from Teletalk Bangladesh Limited
