AMD Hits $1 Trillion Market Cap on AI Boom

Fueled by unprecedented demand for artificial intelligence (AI) technology and a sustained rally in the stock market, processor and chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has reached a $1 trillion market capitalisation for the first time.

During trading on the US stock market on Monday, AMD’s share price jumped 9.6 percent to a record $613.31.

With the milestone, the California-based company became the fourth US chipmaker to join the exclusive $1 trillion club, following Nvidia, Broadcom and Micron. AMD’s stock valuation has surged by around 185 percent in 2026.

Business Expansion and New Strategy

According to market analysts, investors are once again pouring substantial capital into AI-focused technology stocks despite a global economic slowdown and geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran.

As Nvidia’s leading rival in the AI-driven graphics processing unit (GPU) market, AMD has moved beyond relying solely on chip sales. The company has begun offering all-in-one server systems that integrate networking equipment and hardware, strengthening its position in the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.

At the same time, AMD has strengthened its business foundation by capturing a significant share of the server-processor market from rival Intel.

Broad Semiconductor Market Rally

AMD’s achievement has also boosted the broader semiconductor industry. On Monday, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 2.7 percent, reaching its highest level in a month. AMD’s major rival Intel saw its shares jump 11.8 percent, while Qualcomm gained 4.5 percent.

Although investors’ exceptionally high expectations were not fully met by the quarterly earnings outlook announced last month, continued global demand for chips to build AI infrastructure is providing fresh momentum to the technology market.
