Bangladesh is adopting specific action plans to establish itself not merely as a tech consumer, but as a major innovator and manufacturer in the global semiconductor and frontier technology value chain. The strategic vision of the Ministry of Science and Technology has been set as "Science to Economy: Building a Market-Linked, Innovation-Driven Bangladesh."

The closing ceremony of the two-day 'National Semiconductor Symposium and BEAR Summit 2026', jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA), took place on Sunday, July 26, at the Novo Theatre in Dhaka. Organizers assured that a compiled roadmap will be announced shortly based on summit outcomes.

Lead Architect of the summit, Professor Muhammad Mustafa Hussain, noted that technological advancement relies heavily on international cooperation. Prior to the summit, discussions advanced significantly with global giants like Synopsys, GlobalFoundries, and SanDisk in Silicon Valley regarding partnerships and establishing an Advanced Packaging Research Center in Bangladesh. Feedback from all stakeholders is being unified to launch the final action plan.

Speaking at the session, Ministry of Science and Technology Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain outlined four foundational pillars: building a STEM talent pipeline, Research-to-Market (R2M), Innovation-to-Market (I2M), and prioritizing frontier technologies. He added that plans for establishing a 'National Biotech Park' and a 'National AI Institute' are currently in progress.

BSIA President M A Jabbar emphasized ongoing efforts to secure policy support for attracting investments in semiconductor design, testing, and packaging. The two-day event hosted 6 panel discussions featuring around 46 local and international experts, engineers, and investors.
