MPO Teacher Transfer Portal Crashes Amid Heavy Traffic
A major technical disruption hit the online transfer application process for MPO-listed teachers of private schools and colleges on Wednesday, as the server of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education temporarily went down due to an overwhelming number of simultaneous users.
According to DSHE sources, more than one lakh teachers and employees attempted to access the transfer application system at the same time, causing the server to become overloaded. As a result, many applicants were unable to complete their submissions, while heads of educational institutions also faced difficulties entering required information into the system.
The directorate said its technical team is working urgently to increase server capacity and restore normal operations.
When asked about the server outage and the possibility of extending the deadline for institutional data submission, DSHE Director General Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmood Sohel said efforts are underway to resolve the issue.
“The problem will be permanently addressed once the server capacity is enhanced, and work is currently in progress toward that goal,” he said.
However, he clarified that no official decision has yet been taken regarding an extension of the submission deadline.
Transfer Policy Updated
Officials said the Ministry of Education issued a revised transfer policy for MPO-listed school and college teachers on May 6, which was approved by Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Abdul Khaleque.
Following the policy revision, DSHE requested Teletalk Bangladesh Limited on May 10 to update the transfer software accordingly.
The software was fully updated with all revised policy provisions on May 18 and subsequently handed over to DSHE authorities.
Key Features of the New Policy
Under the revised transfer policy, teachers must serve at least two years in a new posting before becoming eligible to apply for another transfer.
After DSHE publishes institution-wise vacancy lists within the designated timeframe, eligible teachers may apply against available positions. Principals, vice principals, assistant headteachers, and teachers of the same subject category will be allowed to apply for equivalent vacant posts and complete the transfer process within the prescribed annual schedule.
The policy also states that applicants will receive priority for transfer to their home district as declared during their initial appointment. If no vacancy exists in that district, they may apply for positions in other districts within the same division.
In special cases, teachers may seek transfer to their spouse’s home district or workplace district, provided the spouse is employed in a government, semi-government, autonomous, or MPO-listed institution. In all cases, applicants must have completed at least two years of service since their initial appointment.
According to ministry sources, the revised transfer policy will soon be made publicly available on the relevant government websites.
