The Bangladesh Post Office has launched a new initiative aimed at modernizing the country’s postal services through digital technologies. Citizens can now track the status of letters, parcels, and e-commerce shipments online from their homes through the newly introduced Domestic Mail Monitoring Software (DMS). In addition, feasibility studies are underway for establishing automated mail processing centers, while several projects are being implemented to expand smart postal services nationwide.

As part of a long-term digital transformation roadmap, the postal department is gradually shifting all its operations to digital platforms. Under the project titled “Construction or Reconstruction of Dilapidated Post Offices of Bangladesh Post Office (Second Phase, Second Revised)”, construction, reconstruction, and renovation work is currently underway at 270 post offices across the country. Furthermore, an additional 39 post offices are being built under the “Physical Infrastructure Development and Expansion of Bangladesh Post Office (First Revised)” project.

The initiative has also included the procurement of 1,000 thermal boxes, which will be used for transporting temperature-sensitive products. To further strengthen the DMS platform, a new development initiative titled “Sustainable Support for the Mail Processing and Logistics Service Center Construction Project” has been undertaken.

Commenting on the developments, Faqir Mahbub Anam said that 14 new mail processing centers have already been established across the country as part of the broader effort to digitize postal services, enhance logistics capabilities, and improve customer service. These centers are equipped with modern chilling chamber facilities, enabling the safe transportation of perishable goods.

He added that the DMS platform allows customers to monitor the real-time location of their mail and parcels, significantly improving transparency, speed, and reliability in postal services.

Industry stakeholders believe that through digital tracking systems, modern logistics infrastructure, and increased automation, Bangladesh’s postal sector is entering a new era of technology-driven service delivery.
