The United International University (UIU) Mars Rover Team, which secured third place globally for the fifth consecutive year by developing a rover capable of operating in the harsh conditions of Mars and collecting scientific data, received a grand homecoming reception at the university campus on Saturday, June 7.

The university authorities welcomed the world-conquering young engineers with a red-carpet reception and a shower of flowers. The parents of the team members were also honored during the celebration.

As part of the festivities, a cake-cutting ceremony was held, and the patriotic song “Sabash Bangladesh, Raise Your Hand... Joyful Bangladesh” was played in dedication to the victorious team.

Among those present at the reception were M. Rezwan Khan, Executive Director of the United Institute for Advanced Research; Hasan Sarwar, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering; team mentor Md. Abid Hossain; and team leader Shaif Al Shad.

While speaking at the event, Dr. Hasan Sarwar described the achievement as “a victory of psychology and strategy alongside technology.”

Following the reception, a press conference was held where the team shared the story of its journey and achievements. It was revealed that while the team consists of 30 members, eight representatives carried Bangladesh’s flag onto the global stage during the international competition.
