The country's media outlets are now operating with full independence, a reality that is evident from daily television broadcasts and newspaper coverage, according to Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.

He made the remarks on Monday, June 1, during a special press conference organized by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing on the first working day following the Eid holidays.

While emphasizing the freedom currently enjoyed by the media, Rumon also expressed serious concern over certain negative trends emerging on digital platforms. He noted that some online editions of media outlets are producing misleading photo cards based on subjective interpretations, while others are publishing edited video clips and fragmented statements through reels in pursuit of higher viewership.

According to him, such practices often convey inaccurate messages to the public and create opportunities for confusion and social disorder.

“In the race for views and engagement, some forms of irresponsible journalism are emerging. All concerned must refrain from such practices and uphold professional standards,” he said.

Press Conference Focused on Eid-Related Public Services

The press conference was organized to highlight various public-oriented initiatives undertaken by the Prime Minister to ensure convenience and public welfare during the Eid period.

Addressing journalists, Rumon stated that the government remains fully committed to ensuring good governance and creating an environment in which citizens can live peacefully and securely.

He said the administration continues to work relentlessly to advance the country economically and technologically, adding that government activities remained fully operational throughout the Eid holidays.

“While people across the country were celebrating Eid with their families, the Prime Minister and her team continued to discharge important state responsibilities without interruption,” he said.

Prime Minister Personally Monitored Post-Eid Cleanup

As an example of the government’s commitment to public service, the Additional Press Secretary said the Prime Minister personally visited several areas of the capital on the day following Eid to inspect post-sacrifice waste management and cleanup operations.

According to him, any instance of negligence or irregularity observed during the inspections was immediately addressed through appropriate directives to the relevant authorities.

He maintained that such direct supervision demonstrates the government's commitment to national development, good governance, and improving public services for citizens.

Rumon further asserted that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, government officials at all levels are working tirelessly to serve the people and implement development initiatives across the country.

The press conference concluded with a reiteration of the government's commitment to maintaining public welfare, strengthening governance, and supporting the country's continued progress.
