Bangladesh AI Olympiad 2026 Expands Regional Roadmap to Build AI-Skilled Digital Talent Pipeline

The national round of the Bangladesh AI Olympiad 2026 is set to be held on 16 May at the campus of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology in Mirpur, Dhaka, aiming to equip school and college-level students across the country with artificial intelligence skills.

Prior to this, regional selection rounds will take place from 2 May to 10 May in different parts of the country. According to the schedule, the regional round in Dhaka will be held on 2 May at the same university. On 8 May, the competition for the Rangpur region will be organized at Saidpur Cantonment Public School and College. On 9 May, regional rounds for Rajshahi, Chattogram, and Khulna will be held respectively at Rajshahi College, Chittagong Independent University, and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology. For students without a nearby venue, an online e-Olympiad will be arranged on 10 May.

Interested students can register through the designated website until 28 April at 10:00 PM. The competition will be held in two categories. In the “AI Challenge” category, students from Class 6 up to HSC and equivalent (A-Level, Alim, Polytechnic), under the age of 20, will be eligible to participate. This segment will be conducted on the popular data science platform Kaggle, with a registration fee set at 100 Taka. In contrast, the “AI Quiz” category will be open free of cost to students from Class 6 to SSC level, where general knowledge, mathematics, and logical reasoning skills will be assessed.

In the AI Challenge segment, participants will be required to solve problems based on core artificial intelligence topics including Python programming, machine learning, and neural networks.

Regarding the initiative, Professor Dr. B M Mainul Hossain of the Institute of Information Technology at the University of Dhaka said that artificial intelligence is critically important in a technology-driven future, and this Olympiad will help students gain practical skills. Meanwhile, Microsoft AI Lead Sadid Hasan told students that learning AI means preparing for the future, and this competition will create opportunities for Bangladesh to represent itself at the international level.

This year’s event is being organized by Bangladesh Open Source Network. Bangladesh University of Business and Technology is serving as the Platinum Sponsor and National Round Host.
