Dr Yunus Thanks Top Trio for Peaceful Polls
Chief Adviser of the interim government Muhammad Yunus has extended congratulations, thanks, and appreciation to Tarique Rahman, Shafiqur Rahman, and Nahid Islam for playing responsible roles that significantly contributed to making the recent election festive and peaceful.
On Saturday, February 14, the Chief Adviser held separate telephone conversations with the three leaders representing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party (NCP).
During the discussions, Yunus noted that the moderation, restraint, and responsible conduct demonstrated by the political parties helped maintain a festive and peaceful atmosphere across the country throughout the election period.
He first spoke with Tarique Rahman and congratulated him on his party’s sweeping majority victory. He later conveyed his appreciation to Shafiqur Rahman and Nahid Islam for their electoral successes and for their constructive and responsible roles in the post-election period.
Expressing optimism about the future, the Chief Adviser said he hopes political parties will continue to play cooperative and positive roles in sustaining the democratic process. He also called upon all stakeholders to work together in unity to fulfill the expectations of the people of Bangladesh.
