The 61st edition of the Asia Pacific Advanced Network Conference (APAN 61) is being held in Dhaka and will continue until January 30. The research- and education-focused networking conference is being jointly organised by the Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN), the Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN), and the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Leaders from the education and ICT sectors of various Asia-Pacific countries are participating in discussions on advanced network technologies and progress in digital transformation in education.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by Huawei Bangladesh on Tuesday, January 27.

Around 300 to 500 participants are expected to attend APAN 61. The event has drawn representatives from national research and education networks (NRENs), universities, technical education institutions, and international ICT-related organisations. The five-day conference is serving as a key platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and innovation in the education and technology sectors.

As one of the major technology partners of Bangladesh’s education sector and a sponsor of the conference, Huawei is organising a seminar titled “Huawei APAC Intelligent Education Roundtable 2026” focusing on intelligent education. The seminar will address digital transformation in higher education, as well as ways to tackle challenges related to teaching, administration and infrastructure. Key discussion areas include the evolution from campus networks to AI-driven research infrastructure and the diverse potential of artificial intelligence in university teaching, research and management.

In addition, Huawei is showcasing various smart campus and smart classroom solutions at its booth. Practical applications supporting the development of smart education in Bangladesh are being highlighted, along with case studies from institutions such as BRAC University, demonstrating successful implementation of Huawei’s campus network and smart classroom technologies.

Through its participation in APAN 61, Huawei has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the digital transformation of Bangladesh’s education system. By working with educational and research institutions as well as industry partners, the company aims to help build a more connected, inclusive and future-ready education ecosystem.
