Hadi Killing Masterminds May Have Stood in Funeral Rows, Says Inqilab Mancha Leader Zuma
Fatima Tasnim Zuma, spokesperson of the Dhaka University unit of Inqilab Mancha, has alleged that some of the planners behind the killing of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, a frontline fighter of the July mass uprising and spokesperson of the platform, may have been present in the front rows of his funeral prayers.
She made the remark in a post on her verified Facebook page late Wednesday night.
In the post, Zuma wrote: “It suddenly hits me—some of the planners behind my brother Hadi’s killing might have been standing in the first two or three rows of his janaza. We may not have understood, may not have recognised them, may not have been able to do anything. O God, expose all conspiracies. Without Your help, we are helpless.”
In a comment under the same post, she said that a court hearing is scheduled for Thursday. Referring to the charge sheet, she alleged that only Masud and Bappi have been shown as directly involved in the killing. “Everything after the incident is there. Nothing before it. I don’t know whether identifying the masterminds is impossible—or whether it is deliberately not being allowed,” she wrote.
She further questioned, “Who are these people? What kind of power do they hold that bringing them to justice is always deemed impossible? Are they more powerful than Hasina?”
It may be recalled that Osman Hadi was critically injured after being shot by two assailants on a motorcycle on December 12, a day after the schedule for the 13th parliamentary election and referendum was announced. The incident occurred in the Box Culvert Road area of Bijoynagar in the capital while he was travelling by rickshaw.
He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He was eventually flown to Singapore for advanced treatment, where he died at 9:45 pm on December 18.
A case was filed with Paltan Police Station following the incident. Later, the parents of the prime accused shooter Faisal were arrested. However, police have yet to arrest Faisal and his associate. It had been suspected that they fled to India, a claim that police officially acknowledged on Wednesday.
