Samsung Signals S26 Series Price Surge
Samsung executives have publicly hinted that prices of the upcoming Galaxy S26 flagship smartphone series may increase, raising concerns about higher costs for consumers and potential pressure on the company’s traditionally aggressive discount strategies—particularly for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Forbes reported the development.
Following reports in South Korean media, Samsung Electronics Co-CEO TM Roh told Reuters during CES 2026 that no company has been spared from the global memory shortage. With surging demand from AI-driven data centers, a significant portion of factory capacity, RAM, and flash storage output is being diverted to that sector, sharply increasing smartphone production costs.
Roh said that under such circumstances, raising product prices could become “inevitable.” Analysts warn that if prices do rise, Samsung may be forced to scale back its long-standing generous discounts, trade-in programs, and promotional offers. This could pose new competitive challenges for the Galaxy S26 Ultra in an increasingly crowded flagship smartphone market.
