OpenAI Launches ‘ChatGPT Health’ for Dedicated Health Conversations
OpenAI has unveiled a new service called ‘ChatGPT Health’, designed to provide users with a dedicated space for health-related conversations. The development was reported by TechCrunch.
According to OpenAI, around 230 million people currently ask health and wellness-related questions on ChatGPT every week. With the introduction of ChatGPT Health, health-focused conversations will be kept separate from general chats, ensuring that personal health contexts do not influence regular interactions.
If users begin discussing health topics outside the Health section, the AI system will encourage them to move the conversation to the designated Health space. However, certain general-use information may still be utilised within the Health section when necessary.
In the future, ChatGPT Health is expected to integrate with wellness applications such as Apple Health, Oura, and MyFitnessPal, allowing for broader functionality and personalised insights.
OpenAI has stated that health-related conversations will not be used to train its artificial intelligence models.
Commenting on the initiative, OpenAI’s Head of Applications, Fidji Simo, said the service was launched in response to challenges such as high healthcare costs, limited access to services, and a lack of continuity in medical care.
The company has cautioned, however, that ChatGPT is not intended for medical diagnosis or treatment. The new service is expected to roll out within the next few weeks.
