Warby Parker has announced that it is partnering with Google to develop lightweight, AI-powered smart glasses scheduled for release in 2026. The joint announcement was made during “The Android Show | XR Edition.” Earlier this year, the two companies revealed the initial details of their collaboration, reports Reuters.

Google is making a renewed push into the current augmented reality and wearable technology market, where Meta and Apple have already established strong positions. Meta has expanded its investment in Quest headsets and Ray-Ban smart glasses, while Apple continues to hold the premium spatial computing segment with its Vision Pro headset. Although Google discontinued its own Glass project a decade ago, it is now aiming to bring smart eyewear into the mainstream through AI technology and strategic partnerships.

Warby Parker said the new glasses will be lightweight and AI-enabled, though no pricing or marketing details have been disclosed. Google stated that it is working with Samsung, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to develop stylish and ultra-light smart eyewear.

The initiative will feature two types of devices—one screenless AI glass equipped with speakers, a microphone, and a camera; and another with a built-in display capable of showing personal navigation cues or translated captions.
