City IT Mega Fair Kicks Off at IDB Bhaban
With the cool winter breeze spreading warmth across the city, the City IT Mega Fair opened at the IDB Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka. The six-day fair is being held with the theme “Power of Technology, Progress of Youth.” The opening day also marked the debut of a new brand named Ldinio.
Celebrating 26 years of trust, all 154 shops spread across the four floors of Bangladesh Computer City have been decorated in a fresh new look. Festoons of sponsors have been hung across the building’s void space, while sponsor pavilions are set up outside.
On 8 December, Monday, Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) President BCS inaugurated the fair by cutting a ribbon and releasing balloons.
In his speech as chief guest, he said the youth of the country are its greatest asset. “To make them skilled, they need access to computers. If one of the 50 loss-making companies among 54 in this sector is reduced and each student is provided with a computer, that will be a true investment.”
He added, “This is not just a fair; it is a message— a showcase of new technology. The next generation needs policy support to ensure easy access to these technologies.”
Terming the existing duty structure on laptops as “irrational,” he urged the government to remove it and restore the opportunity to import computers duty-free.
The program was chaired by Akhtar Hossain Khan, President of the BCS Computer City Market Management Committee.
Fair Committee Convener Zahed Ali Bhuiyan delivered the welcome address.
Others who spoke at the event included Jasim Uddin Khandaker, Deputy Managing Director of Global Brand, and Gautam Saha, Advisor to the BCS Computer City Market Management Committee.
Speakers emphasized that technology is not a luxury, but a tool for knowledge and prosperity.
During the event, crests were handed over to the sponsors. Afterwards, a cake-cutting ceremony marked the official launch of Ldinio in Bangladesh as a fast-charging expert brand.
