Land Management Automation Advances Accountability in Bangladesh

The automation of land management in Bangladesh marks a groundbreaking step in the nation’s land administration, while raising the importance of awareness and security in its use, says ASM Saleh Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land.

“Land Management Automation is a timely and revolutionary step in Bangladesh’s land administration. It has not only simplified citizen services but also effectively curbed corruption and broker networks. Many people are using this service, so ensuring awareness and security in technology use is now equally important,” he said.

Speaking at a seminar on the Land Management Automation Project held Thursday (23 October) at the ministry’s conference room, ASM Saleh Ahmed emphasized the role of technology in modernizing the sector.

He added, “The Ministry of Land is a key administrative department of the country, aiming to ensure modern, transparent, and citizen-friendly land services. Due to population growth and complex land record management, the sector has long faced numerous problems. Technology-driven automation plays a major role in establishing good governance, transparency, and accountability.”

During a subsequent discussion on the Government Performance Monitoring System (GPMS), the Senior Secretary highlighted that this system will play a crucial role in ensuring administrative efficiency and results-oriented management.

The seminar was attended by senior officials including Additional Secretary Md. Shariful Islam, Md. Abdur Rouf NDC, Saima Yunus NDC, Md. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, and Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman.
