BYD Blazes Benchmark with Record-Breaking 472.41 KM Speed

Global leader in New Energy Vehicles (NEV), BYD, has set a new milestone through its premium sub-brand, Yangwang. The U9 Track Edition officially achieved the highest speed record in electric vehicles (EVs), reaching an unprecedented 472.41 km/h (293.54 mph) earlier this month at the ATP Test Track in Germany.

On Thursday, October 28, BYD’s Bangladeshi distributor, CG Runner BD Ltd., announced the achievement.

The U9 Track Edition is built on the world’s first mass-produced 1200-volt ultra-high-voltage platform. It also incorporates an innovative vehicle thermal management solution designed to optimize performance even under extreme track conditions. The car’s E4 powertrain is the world’s first quad-motor platform, featuring high-performance motors with 30,000 RPM, each capable of delivering 555 kW peak power output.

With a combined power output exceeding 3,000 PS (horsepower), the U9 achieves an extraordinary power-to-weight ratio of 1,217 PS/t, setting a new industry benchmark. The powertrain enables the vehicle to generate 1,288 horsepower and 1,680 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds.

Previously, in August last year, the Yangwang U9 reached 375.12 km/h during track testing and followed up with 391.94 km/h in October. These record-breaking speeds surpassed China’s high-speed rail benchmark of 350 km/h, making it one of the most remarkable experiences of rapid ground travel outside air travel.

Commenting on this extraordinary achievement, Imtiaz Naosher, Chief Marketing Officer of BYD Bangladesh, said: “This is not just about speed, it is also about moving towards our future. This achievement underscores BYD’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and high-speed performance; it has set a new milestone in the global automotive industry.”
