Full Security over Fast Speed: ICT Secretary Urges Responsible Innovation

Emphasizing the need for responsible innovation over rapid adoption, ICT Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury has urged stakeholders in the tech sector to prioritize impact and security—particularly in cloud and online services.
Speaking at the launch event of Exentec’s Tier-4 Cloud Platform, held at the headquarters of Robi Axiata in Tejgaon on 23 June, the ICT Secretary stated, “Since Exentec is committing to full protection of data, we hope that the leakage of personal data on the dark web will significantly decrease.”
He stressed that maximum speed should not come at the cost of “full security,” particularly as cloud services become increasingly integrated into public and private systems. Chowdhury further said, “This initiative by Robi will play a supportive role in the storage of government data.”
Highlighting progress on national data protection frameworks, he noted, “We are at the final stage of ensuring personal data security. Two ordinances are expected to be passed by August. Ethical considerations are being embedded into the national AI policy, and the government is ready to provide the necessary regulatory support to expand cloud adoption.”
The event was moderated by Adil Hossain Noble, Managing Director of Exentec PLC. Other notable attendees included Robi’s Company Secretary Shahed Alam and Chief Commercial Officer A.K.M. Nazmul Islam.
