Microsoft Moves to Dissolve Russian Subsidiary

Microsoft Corporation is planning to declare one of its Russian affiliate companies, "Microsoft Rus LLC," bankrupt, according to a notice published Friday in Russia’s official Fedresurs registry, Reuters reported.
Despite Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Microsoft continued offering limited services in the country. However, in June 2022, the company announced it would significantly scale down its operations in Russia due to a changing business environment.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently emphasized the need to regulate foreign service providers like Microsoft and Zoom, prioritizing the development of domestic software alternatives.
Russian state news agency TASS reported that Microsoft has three other operational units in the country—Microsoft Development Center Rus, Microsoft Mobile Rus, and Microsoft Payments Rus. The future of these entities remains uncertain.
