Shikho Secures Strategic Support from Startup Bangladesh

Bangladesh-based edtech startup Shikho has received a fresh investment from Startup Bangladesh Limited, operating under the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh. The newly pledged funding is expected to further strengthen the startup's AI-driven learning infrastructure.

The commitment was made on Wednesday at the ICT Tower in Dhaka, where Shikho's Co-founder and CEO, Shahir Chowdhury, received the investment pledge from Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the ICT Division and Chairman of the Board at Startup Bangladesh.

With this round, which also includes commitments from investors Wasikur Rahman, Kazi Zishan Rabeth Hasan, and Kazi Jahin Shahpor Hasan, Shikho’s total funding has now surpassed USD 8 million. However, the specific amount pledged in this latest round has not been disclosed.

At the event, it was noted that Shikho has already made notable progress with its AI-powered, curriculum-based content and mobile-first learning platform developed in the Bengali language. Speaking about the new investment, CEO Shahir Chowdhury stated, “Government support is a major validation for us. We are committed to driving educational transformation through AI-powered solutions.”

ICT Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury commented, “Shikho’s work aligns with our national digital education strategy. By supporting local innovators, we are investing in the future of education. This investment will further accelerate Shikho’s initiatives to promote inclusive, high-quality, and modern education across both urban and rural areas.”

Previously, in March 2023, Shikho.com secured BDT 96 million in funding from global investors Goodwater, Sturgeon Capital, and Black Kite Capital, along with Bangladeshi social development organization Sajida Foundation.
