Dr. Yunus Urges Asia to Forge a Roadmap for Shared Prosperity

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, has called upon Asian nations to develop a clear roadmap for a prosperous future and collective growth. He emphasized the need for Asia to build a robust technology ecosystem that is regenerative, equitable, and inclusive.
Speaking at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) in Hainan, China, on Thursday (March 27), Dr. Yunus stated, “In this ever-changing world, the destinies of Asian nations are deeply interconnected. We must chart a clear roadmap toward a shared future and collective prosperity. In this regard, we must reduce our reliance on imports and strive for self-sufficiency. It is crucial to enhance innovation in sustainable technology-driven agriculture and climate-friendly farming.”
He further added, “We must share knowledge and information while investing in technology incubation and innovation. Collaboration in digital solutions will accelerate our progress.”
On financial cooperation, the Chief Adviser stressed the need for Asia to establish a sustainable financing system. He urged regional development banks (MDBs) and similar institutions to take the lead in these efforts, stating, “We need reliable funding mechanisms to address challenges and meet growing demands.”
Regarding trade collaboration, Dr. Yunus pointed out that weak connectivity hinders investment and commerce. He urged swift action to enhance trade cooperation.
He emphasized the central role of intellectual resources and youth empowerment in collective action, stating, “We must lay the foundation for a new civilization—one that fosters self-sufficiency and resilience. We need to cultivate a counter-culture based on a zero-waste lifestyle, limiting consumption to fundamental needs. Our economy should be built on social business, which will emerge as the future business model, integrating innovation, purpose, and responsibility.”
Dr. Yunus also called upon platforms like the Boao Forum to facilitate collaboration among youth and entrepreneurs, ensuring a brighter future for Asia. He urged young people to embrace the “Three Zero” principles: “Zero carbon emissions, zero wealth concentration, and zero unemployment through social business.”
According to state news agency BSS, Dr. Yunus reiterated his call for Asian nations to work together to create a prosperous future for all.
