DHAKA: Charting a transformative chapter in Bangladesh's consumer technology access, leading homegrown mobile phone brand Symphony Mobile has reached a milestone by surpassing 140 million (14 crore) customers nationwide. The brand, operated by parent conglomerate Edison Group, commemorated the event at the Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre on Thursday, 10 September 2026, joined by popular television actor Tawsif Mahbub as guest of honour.

The ceremony brought together three historic consumers who completed the landmark registration counter. Official sales analytics revealed that Rubel Hossain of Faridpur joined as the 139,999,998th customer, directly followed by Nadia Akter of Narayanganj as the 139,999,999th. Completing the benchmark, Mafiza Khatun of Mymensingh officially registered as Symphony’s 140,000,000th (14 crore-th) customer.

Commemorating the achievement, Founder of Edison Group and Managing Director of Symphony Mobile, Jakaria Shahid, stated, "Surpassing 14 crore users is not merely a statistical tally; it reflects the deep-rooted trust and daily reliance of millions of households across Bangladesh. Since our inception, our focus has been removing price barriers to consumer dreams. In this era of artificial intelligence and ultra-fast mobile broadband, Edison Group remains committed to delivering accessible, meaningful, and modern technology across society."

Entering the telecommunications landscape in 2008 with the banner 'New Experience' and formalizing under Edison Group in 2009, Symphony transformed handset affordability. While multinational branded devices commanded premium pricing between BDT 7,000 and BDT 10,000, Symphony made feature devices broadly accessible between BDT 1,500 and BDT 2,000. Over the ensuing decade and a half, the brand introduced mass-market milestones, including accessible QWERTY hardware, resistive touchscreens, PDAs, and Bangladesh's first homegrown affordable Android smartphone in 2012.
