First Paid DLC for Pokémon Pokopia Launches on August 5
The first paid downloadable content (DLC) for Pokémon Pokopia, the hit video game released for the Nintendo Switch 2 in March this year, is set to launch on August 5. Titled Bubbly Basin, the expansion introduces a new underwater world along with several gameplay features and customization options for players.
Explore the Ocean Floor
The headline feature of the update is a vast new underwater area that resembles the ruins of the fictional Cerulean City. To access the new environment, players will gain a special Dive ability, allowing them to descend beneath the sea and explore the ocean floor.
The Dive feature will be released as a free update for all players, enabling exploration of underwater environments even for those who do not purchase the expansion.
The game's core objective remains unchanged: attracting different Pokémon by creating habitats suited to their individual preferences. However, the underwater setting introduces a new building mechanic that allows players to use floating blocks, making it possible to construct elaborate three-dimensional structures beneath the sea.
New Decorations and Expansion Pass
The Bubbly Basin expansion also adds a variety of underwater-themed furniture and decorative items, a watermelon cultivation feature, and a new Dream Island filled with useful resources.
One limitation, however, is that the new area cannot be purchased separately. Players must buy the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, priced at US$35, to access the DLC.
The Expansion Pass will also grant access to three additional major DLC releases planned for the future.
