A nationwide written examination was conducted to select trainees for the "Skill Development of IT-Literate Youth through Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology" project, implemented by the Department of Youth Development under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Held on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) across designated exam centers in all 64 districts, around 50,000 eligible candidates sat for the test out of 83,000 applicants.

In the initial phase, a total of 1,600 trainees—25 from each district—will be selected, representing a nationwide competition ratio of over 32 applicants per seat. In Dhaka alone, 3,780 candidates are competing for just 25 seats. Project Director Md. Atikur Rahman inspected exam halls in Dhaka and confirmed that practical and viva sessions will occur on July 29, with final results slated for July 30 and classes commencing August 2.

Over two years, the project aims to train 11,200 youth across 448 batches in practical AI tools including ChatGPT, Gemini, Midjourney, and Runway to build market-ready skills.
