A review workshop titled 'ISISC–EBT Implementation Progress Review' was held to evaluate skill development, ensure training quality, and foster sustainable employment for workers in the informal sector. Organized by the Informal Sector Industry Skills Council (ISISC), the event took place on Saturday (July 25) at the Tourism Auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka. The workshop emphasized preventing training duplication, verifying candidate information, and building an integrated digital information system.
The primary objective of the workshop was to assess progress, identify field-level challenges, and formulate future action plans for the Enterprise-Based Training (EBT) under the ASSET project. Speaking as the chief guest, Md. Daud Miah, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division, remarked, "The true indicator of success is not merely increasing the number of trainees, but achieving verified skills and actual employment. To ensure one trainee does not take repetitive training across multiple projects, data verification and an integrated digital database are essential."
Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon, Chairman of ISISC, presided over the event and highlighted the importance of institutional recognition for informal sector workers. Special Guest Engr. Abul Khair Md. Akkas Ali, Director General of the Directorate of Technical Education, stressed maintaining safety standards at training sites and keeping employment records updated. According to the progress report presented, thousands of workers have successfully completed training and secured employment across various phases, with 41,760 trainees currently enrolled in the fourth phase.
