BFDC Officials Seek BDT 200 Crore Special Fund for Tech Modernization
Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) employees have urged the government for a BDT 200 crore allocation to modernize its technological infrastructure and boost revenue.
Employees of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) have expressed their commitment to boost state revenue by upgrading the facility's technological infrastructure after overcoming global setbacks. To implement this vision, they requested a special allocation of BDT 200 crore from the government.
The appeal was made to State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Yasir Khan Chowdhury, during a ceremony held on Tuesday (June 23) at the BFDC conference room in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka. During the event, gratuity and leave encashment checks were handed over to seven retired employees in the second phase, following an initial batch of 24. The Minister assured that the dues of all remaining retirees would be cleared systematically in installments.
State Minister Yasir Khan Chowdhury remarked that many state corporations possess massive potential but lack dedication. To make BFDC financially independent, a joint talent hunt program by BTV and BFDC will be launched soon.
Presiding over the session, BFDC Managing Director Masuma Rahman Tani noted that 49 more retired staffers are awaiting their payments and efforts are ongoing to resolve the issue.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shah Alam, confirmed that the development work of the BFDC Film City will be completed within the next fiscal year.
Bangladesh Nationalist Social and Cultural Organization' (Jasas) Central Convenor Helal Khan, Joint Secretary Khaled Alam Munna, Directors Association President Shahin Sumon, and BFDC General Secretary GM Sahed were also present.
