The government is working to build a modern, people-friendly, technology-driven policing system in the country, said Md. Ali Hossain Fakir. He also noted that the police force is firmly committed to delivering services to the doorsteps of citizens.
He made these remarks while speaking to journalists on Friday, 8 May, at noon after inaugurating the new building of the Khilkhet Police Outpost in the 300 Feet area of the capital.
The IGP said that in the past, there were complaints of bureaucratic complexities in various administrative activities of the police. There used to be delays in file approvals. However, after the current government assumed office, the situation has changed.
He said, “The new government is working with renewed momentum. In line with public expectations, the government is providing overall support to the police to improve the law and order situation.”
The IGP further said that one of the key electoral commitments of the current government was to improve the country’s law and order situation. To achieve this goal, the government is playing a sincere and supportive role toward the police administration.
Responding to a question about the shortage of manpower in the police force, Md. Ali Hossain Fakir said that the government has assured that the issue will be addressed in the new fiscal year.
He added that ensuring a sustainable law and order situation is not possible without the cooperation of the public and the media. Urging everyone to support the police, the IGP said, “Let us all work together to build a peaceful, safe, and crime-free society.”
