State Minister for Health Dr. M A Muhith has conducted another surprise inspection of a hospital in Sylhet—this time not in person, but via a direct video call from the Secretariat in Dhaka.

At around 12:00 pm on Tuesday (March 24), he monitored the activities of the South Surma Upazila Health Complex in Sylhet.

At the beginning of the video call, the State Minister spoke with patients who had come to receive outpatient (outdoor) services. He inquired about the quality of care and whether they were receiving government-supplied medicines properly. He then checked on the doctors on duty and requested to view the hospital’s attendance register live on video. He closely examined whose signatures were recorded in the register and who was physically present at the workplace.

Upon learning about the presence of doctors and the satisfaction of patients, the State Minister highly praised the concerned officials. He said, “Under the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we are working day and night to ensure quality healthcare for every citizen of the country.” He urged doctors to uphold a service-oriented mindset and play a leading role in building a “Healthy Bangladesh” by earning patients’ trust.

Earlier, on Monday (March 23) at around 12:15 pm, Dr. M A Muhith had conducted a similar surprise inspection via video call at Zakiganj Upazila Health Complex in the border area of Sylhet. The initiative aimed to ensure that grassroots healthcare services remained operational during the Eid holidays. During that inspection, he found one of the four on-duty doctors absent and expressed dissatisfaction, instructing authorities to investigate the matter.

While speaking with emergency department nurses and general patients during the video call, the State Minister said, “You are the only source of hope for people in remote areas. The government recognizes your sacrifices.” He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring world-class healthcare for grassroots communities and reiterated plans to transform the health sector through the introduction of a ‘Health Card’ for every citizen.
