Ahead of the 13th national election, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has launched a dedicated website and mobile application to involve the public directly in drafting its election manifesto. Branded as “People’s Manifesto”, the initiative allows citizens to contribute their views, suggestions, and priorities, effectively positioning them as co-authors of the party’s electoral agenda.

Speaking about the initiative, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar said the party aims to formulate a people-friendly, realistic, and accountable election manifesto through this innovative approach. He noted that public opinions will be collected over a seven-day period from December 18 to December 24, Insha’Allah.

He explained that through the party’s designated website and app-based digital platforms, citizens can submit policy opinions, identify national and local issues, and propose solutions. In addition to written submissions, participants will also be able to share their views via audio and video formats.

Mia Golam Parwar said that in conventional political culture, public participation in manifesto drafting remains limited. “Through the ‘People’s Manifesto’ programme, we want to change that tradition by engaging citizens not merely as voters, but as co-authors of the manifesto,” he said.

He further outlined that the initiative will operate on three core pillars.
First, direct public participation, enabling citizens to share their views using digital platforms.
Second, a technology-driven and data-based online manifesto, where collected opinions will be categorised, analysed, prioritised, and published.
Third, a digital promise tracker, designed to publicly monitor the progress of manifesto commitments in the future.

Under this framework, a two-tier manifesto structure will be developed—one national integrated manifesto and another constituency-based or local manifesto.

He added that all collected feedback will be analysed through a structured, data-driven evaluation process and incorporated into a manifesto designed to be measurable, specific, and time-bound. Plans are also in place to introduce a web-based digital promise tracker to monitor the implementation of commitments made in the manifesto.

Expressing optimism, Mia Golam Parwar said the initiative has the potential to establish a new benchmark for transparency, participation, and accountability in Bangladesh’s political landscape.
