Nagad Notifies on Google Warning on Play Store
Google has issued a warning flagging the Nagad app as potentially risky—an alert typically triggered when an application violates Play Store policies. Responding to the matter on Friday, 14 November, Nagad authorities clarified that the recent Google Play Protect warning displayed on some users’ devices does not indicate any security threat.
In a press statement, the fintech company said the warning appeared on Thursday night during an update to the app’s security framework. The update was part of an already announced service-enhancement initiative.
According to Nagad, such alerts may also arise from Google’s own internal security policy updates, which in this case appear to have caused confusion among some users.
Upon learning of the issue, Nagad’s technical team promptly contacted Google, and both parties are currently working together to resolve the matter.
Nagad, the mobile financial service operated under the Bangladesh Post Office, has reiterated that its app is fully secure and meets all required compliance standards.
The company further alleged that certain groups are deliberately spreading misleading information on social media in an attempt to damage Nagad’s reputation and business. Customers have been urged not to be misled by such misinformation.
Nagad emphasized that its app does not extract or store any personal data from users’ devices and confirmed that it remains completely safe to use.
